The BW450 mud pump is a horizontal, three-cylinder, reciprocating, single-acting piston pump. It features dual cylinder diameters and a four-speed variable displacement system, allowing the flow and pressure to be adjusted according to drilling depth and borehole size. The large cylinder liner is designed for 1000-meter drilling rigs, while the small cylinder liner is compatible with 1500-meter small-bore rigs, providing precise output across different geological conditions and operational requirements.

The mud pump is widely used in mining, geological drilling, water conservancy and hydropower projects, railway and highway construction, bridge foundations, high-rise buildings, and ground reinforcement. It can be paired with core drilling rigs for mud delivery and is also suitable for grouting, long-distance water transfer, and mine drainage. Built for demanding mining environments, the pump adopts a reinforced structural layout that delivers stable, durable performance under high-pressure, high-flow, and continuous-duty conditions.

The BW450 mud pump employs a bowl-type, self-sealing S-type polyurethane piston with a nylon backing, improving sealing reliability and extending wear life. The power-end tie rod is equipped with five dust-resistant sealing rings to prevent mud from entering the power chamber, maintaining lubricant cleanliness and extending the service life of the gears and transmission components. The suction and discharge valves use a steel-ball design, and the valve covers are fitted with shock-absorbing rubber pads to reduce impact noise and enhance operating smoothness.

A BY-1 shock-resistant pressure gauge is used for stable readings in vibration-intensive environments and improved service life. The pump features a compact structure with good accessibility, making assembly, disassembly, maintenance, and relocation straightforward-an advantage for operations that require frequent equipment movement or multi-site deployment.

Mud Pump Operating Procedures

Pre-Start Inspection:

Ensure all connections are securely tightened. Verify that the motor rotation direction is correct, the clutch engages smoothly and reliably, and all pipelines are properly connected with effective seals. The foot valve should operate smoothly and effectively.

Priming the Pump:

Before starting the submersible mud pump, fill the suction pipe, foot valve, and pump body with water. Also, make sure the upper end of the pressure gauge damper is filled with oil.

Initial Startup:

Manually turn the pump to allow the piston to complete two full strokes. Only start the pump under no-load conditions when it rotates freely and electrical insulation is confirmed. After startup, allow the pump to reach stable operation before gradually applying load.

During Operation – Seals and Lubrication:

Monitor the condition of all sealing components and make adjustments as needed. Frequently lubricate the connecting rod and auxiliary rod to ensure smooth operation.

Mud Quality Monitoring:

Regularly check the sand content in the drilling mud. It should not exceed 10% to avoid damage to the pump components.

Speed Operation Routine:

For pumps with multiple speed settings, operate the pump at each speed for at least 30 seconds during every shift. This ensures proper splash lubrication across all gears.
