BW200 Mud Pump

The BW200 mud pump is a compact and lightweight horizontal double-cylinder, double-acting piston pump designed for stable circulation of drilling fluids in core drilling and water well operations. Its small footprint and flexible handling make it suitable for shallow drilling applications, including geological exploration, water well construction, and core sampling.

To meet the needs of different drilling techniques, the pump can be equipped with φ80 mm or φ65 mm cylinder liners. The φ80 mm liner is suitable for tungsten carbide and steel-shot drilling and supports the circulation requirements of 600-meter drilling rigs, while the φ65 mm liner is ideal for small-diameter diamond core drilling and ensures a reliable fluid supply for 1000-meter drilling rigs.

The BW200 adopts a stepped ball-valve pump head for enhanced resistance to clogging in sand-rich formations and is built with an industrial-grade clutch and a bearing-supported crankshaft for greater durability and easier maintenance. Made from high-strength cast steel and powered by an electric motor, it is smaller, lighter, and easier to relocate than similar pumps, making it especially suitable for field operations. It is widely used in geophysical blast holes, engineering geological drilling, small water well projects, and other shallow-depth operations within approximately 200 meters.

Mud pump maintenance

 

Check the oil daily and change it regularly. If you notice water or drilling mud contamination in the oil, replace it immediately. Neglecting this maintenance can result in a costly gear end rebuild, which could have been easily avoided. Water in the oil prevents it from functioning properly and can cause your gear end to overheat, while drilling mud acts like a lapping compound, wearing out all bearing surfaces in the pump. Either scenario can lead to significant expenses.

 

The primary reasons for water or drilling mud entering the gear end are failing pony rod packing and/or severely worn liners and pistons. A key sign of this issue is fluid that should remain in the fluid end moving past the piston and spraying into the pump cradle, forcing its way past the pony rod packing. The pony rod packing's purpose is to keep oil in the gear end, while the liner should prevent fluid from washing into it. Even with new packing, water or drilling fluid can enter the gear end if the piston or liner is worn and the fluid is sprayed with enough force.

 

To prevent damage, monitor your oil regularly and maintain pistons, liners, and pony rod packing in good condition. If a liner begins to leak, identify the cause and replace it as soon as possible to avoid further damage and costly repairs.
