Mud pumps are essential equipment in the drilling and exploration industry, with simple operation and convenient handling. There are two common types of mud pumps on the market, namely piston type or plunger type. Due to the poor working environment of the pump, there is a high possibility of failure. If the maintenance methods are correct, the service life of the machinery can be extended. During the use of mud pumps, it is inevitable to encounter problems such as water leakage, electric leakage, or insufficient speed and flow rate, which indicates that the machinery has already malfunctioned. Do not underestimate issues such as noise or pump body heating. If ignored, it can turn the machinery from a minor problem to a major one. What if various minor mechanical problems are detected before a major mechanical malfunction occurs?

Fault 1. Motor malfunction. If the motor noise is too high or the motor overheats, it is necessary to stop working in a timely manner and let the motor idle. If the motor experiences significant noise and vibration, it is necessary to consider whether the motor has malfunctioned. If the motor experiences a hot hand problem after a short period of idling, it is necessary to choose to replace the motor. Motor failure can easily cause the pump body to burn out.

Fault 2. Gearbox cleaning. The gearbox of the mud pump is very important, and the machining accuracy of the gearbox is relatively high. After long-term use, the interior of the gearbox must be thoroughly cleaned. If any abnormal noise or jamming is found in the gearbox, it must be disassembled to check if the gears inside the gearbox are damaged. Gears with deeper wear should be replaced in a timely manner to ensure normal engagement between each gear and that the surface of the rollers is free of dirt.
